We are still without power due to storm damage to house and electrical mast. Had it repaired and city inspected minutes ago so hope to sleep cool tonight. 🤞
Bless y'all's hearts. No power is a misery. I've weathered Florida hurricanes when it took a week to get power. We were warned to fill our bathtubs with water...after you scrubbed it until your fingers bled. Be grateful for every little thing. Donate if you can. Those people in western NC need it.
Savannah was lucky. But, I cannot stop thinking about Asheville's River District and Marshall, NC where many artists and ceramists live and work. Anyways, great piece Jessica. I too never knew how much I use that dang wall switch!
I was one of the very lucky ones... I'm almost ashamed to write it... I was blessed! I sympathize with all who have been or are still suffering from the lack of power and internet. But I have seen and experienced over the many years many a snow storm up in Québec that took down trees like they were pick up sticks, same with power lines, froze everything it could solid for a few weeks at a time... not everyone has a fireplace to cozy up too... when the 40 degree below hits, forget about your pipes... and way more... no matter how many layers one puts on, it does not get warm... that's when people look for good friends and family members to cozy up to..so, misery is not pleasant on any level and some people can take it better than others... I appreciate the many friends who have endured this tragedy with a sense of humor and did all they could to make things happen... It takes resilience - not everybody was born with this quality, unfortunately. Let's pray for those who actually have lost everything, some members of their family or their homes... May God help them find their way to a better future soon...

“Try sleeping in a dogs mouth” nearly knocked me over with hysteria!

Another one hit right out of the ballpark. Thanks for your humorous and incisive perspective. And please let this next storm pass quickly...
Excellent article, and that storm was not expected to veer east, what a monster
